Derrick & Mattison's Wedding at Canon Creek Ranch

There's something magical that happened this day. And any words or pictures really can't describe the tangible sweetness in the air. It was like an invisible orchestra was playing in the background bringing emotion to every look, every word, and every moment. Back in the Spring, I was able to take Derrick and Mattison's Engagement pictures and that was really the first time we had spent any time together although our paths have intertwined for many years between the girls taking care of my kids in the church nursery to Steve and Matt visiting when work paths crossed. But shortly after Mattison's Bridals, her sister Miranda became very ill and my family and I spent the summer on our knees praying for miraculous healing for her lungs. God did amazing work and she was able to come home after spending over 70 days in CCU. We are continuing to pray for complete healing for her and we were able to celebrate with her this day when she was able to muster up the strength to accomplish her goal of walking down the aisle to be by Mattison's side. During this trial, it was evident to Steve and I that it would be easier on this sweet family to plan Mattison's wedding locally instead of in Nacogdoches, where it was originally intended. Matter of fact, Steve was the first one to say, "Why don't you tell her she can have it here." There were many days that Mattison thought she may have her wedding beside her sisters and family in the hospital, but I'm so glad the Lord allowed her to have the wedding she had always wanted... surrounded by all her friends and family. Many people have told us, including the Nichols, what a blessing it was for us to offer our home for this wedding, but the absolute truth is that we are the ones who have been blessed! To be a small part of this family for a short time and to see the number of generous, hard-working people that have pitched in to help makes my heart swell. And I'm delighted that this wedding turned out to be one that dreams are made of. Not just because I'm biased and love my home :), but because of the aura that enchanted us all. It was a down-home country shindig dripping with tender sweetness and love. Even the rain held off with the exception of 15 minutes of sprinkles, but man, what an amazing blessing to have a rainbow finish off your wedding ceremony!

Dayna and Mattison did a fantastic job of bringing together SO many homemade touches in signage and props! The cakes and mini chocolate pies were absolutely adorable and done by Jori Kennedy and Carolyn Woods. The amazing S'mores table was done by Andrea Woods and she even handmade the marshmallows! The gorgeous bouquets were done by Lisa Whittlesey, and the awesome band, whom I highly recommend, was The Wesley Westbrook Band from Brenham, TX. There are so many more that I could go on listing that lended a hand...especially the groomsmen that built the dance floor from scratch and set out haybales and my sweet husband that worked endless for weeks prepping. So Thank You Derrick and Mattison from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to host, capture, AND witness your beautiful day!! Steve and I are so excited for you and know the Lord will bless your marriage abundantly.

Cassity's Studio Bridal Shoot

Normally, I love to be outside shooting. My favorite spots are raw, rural sites that have a free and earthy feel. So when Cassity wanted to do her Bridals ALL inside, I had to challenge myself. I like a challenge. And I'm really excited to show you how these turned out. We focused more on posing than the environment and her beauty made all the difference in helping us capture such stunning shots! A big thanks to Briarcrest Country Club, now Phillips Event Center, in Bryan. They let us use their newly renovated ballroom for a lot of the shots and I was even able to set up a backdrop there for a few. Also a thanks to the LaSalle Hotel in Historic Downtown Bryan for allowing us to shoot in their lobby as well as the fabulous Downtown 202, where Cassity and Josh's Wedding Reception is held.
