I absolutely LOVED shooting this wedding at 7F Lodge! It was full of so many special touches that made it personal and so beautiful. The flowers were to die for, the food was delicious, Julie was stunning, Alan was a loving & doting groom AND we had lots of FUN! It was perfection! I'm Alive!

I know. Some of you may be thinking I've fallen off the face of the earth or my business went bust so I'm not posting any more. Neither one could be farther from the truth.

So my husband and I built a house this year. Yes, WE built the house. The past 12 months have been a complete whirlwind with me being a mom to my beautiful daughters, a wife to my wonderful husband, photographer, medical billing specialist and General Contractor too. I haven't slept much and I'm shocked to say my hair stylist said she didn't see any gray hairs on my last visit. Completely shocked! I could have sworn I'd be covered in them after the stress of this past year.

We also experienced much sorrow over the loss of 2 more babies on February 18th. We were due to have twins this week, but they are now in Heaven in the arms of Jesus.

I hope to get back on track with posting my shoots on my blog and my website needs desperate attention and remodeling. I'm not sure that with the Christmas rush starting already that my website will get updated before January. But I can always dream.

Oh! So now that I can take my "General Contractor" hat off, I can add "Kindergarten Teacher" as Kylan has now started K this year. We have been homeschooling for the past 3 weeks and she is doing wonderfully and reading quite well. I'm not a natural born teacher and patience is not on the top of my list of gifts, so this should be a learning experience for us both.

So thanks for hanging in there with me and being patient as we were in Survival Mode the past several months. I'll try to post some pics of the house too when I get frames on walls and can tackle some decorating.

Sorrell-Hill Wedding

Bless her heart, poor Starla had the flu the week of her wedding. She was just starting to get her strength back on Saturday, but she still looked beautiful. The church had gorgeous stained glass windows and her flowers were my favorite. Blue hydrangeas. I'm planting them all around my new house in the next month...I just hope they like me (and my dirt) as much as I like them.

The reception location was an old warehouse converted to a meeting/reception location. The brick walls and wooden beams were great texture to photograph along with her beautiful cakes and little details like the moss covered door initials. The bride's sister and Matron of Honor, Shelby, was responsible for a lot of the details and her touches made everything beautiful.

I've never seen a groom as nervous as Kipp. I thought he might pass out before he got to the front of the church, but when those big white doors opened up, his face lit up. All the nerves were gone and he was a happy man.

I wish the two of you all the best! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Kipp Hill.

Starla's Bridals

Last fall was the worst case of sticker burrs I can ever remember. I was constantly warning clients to watch where they stepped and I had clients with them all up their pant legs from walking in the tall grass. We were keeping a close eye on them so Starla wouldn't get any in her beautiful lace gown. One misstep out of the car and we spent 10 minutes, at least, picking stickers out of her delicate lace train. We had to break out some tweezers the things were so stubborn (and painful I might add). But it was all worth it. We got some great shots on during this shoot. It was crazy windy, but we found shelter around some old structures. The old building where she is standing in the doorway used to be a church long, long ago. It's located over by where I live and my husband told me about it one day. It has a quaint little cemetery next to it. I love places with so much history. And I love these shots...

Cayle's Three

My baby, Cayle, just turned 3 last week!! I can't believe she's so big now. She is quite the character. She doesn't have a temper like most people assume redheads do, but she is a HAM. She keeps me VERY busy keeping her out of trouble but her cute disposition and baby voice soften the irritation that comes with her destructive tendencies. If there is a piece of paper on the floor, you can bet she will shred it into smaller pieces; if there is a toy on the floor, she will purposely step on it and try to break it. I don't really understand that...I'm just praying God will transform her destruction into something productive or constructive. Maybe her three year old year will bring more constructive behavior...hopefully. She loves to snuggle and she's just so soft that I can't help but bury my face in her neck and nuzzle her at bedtime. It's so hard to leave her when she keeps asking, "Mommy gif me en Esmo kiss, Budderfy kiss, bear kiss, tiger kiss, bird kiss........" She keeps us laughing and she knows she is a hoot.

My precious Kylan grows more beautiful every year and she has such a sweet heart in her (when she's not picking on her sister). She will be FIVE in June so I'll post some birthday pics of her this summer. She used to be so hard to take pics of, but now she is quite the model. I don't have to tell her how to move or where to pose, she just does it on her own! It's great and it helps that she is very photogenic. I think between my beautiful blonde and red head, I have a photographers dream. :) I love my girls to pieces. I hope you enjoy the shoot...

Aubrey did great during our shoot. Just a couple snacks and little rocking by Kate to soothe her. She was at home and fell asleep in Daddy's arms and relaxed so much she peed all over him (Not unusual. Kids like to pee/poo on Dad), but Todd had to sit still while we got the rest of the shots. :)

I love family shoots cause we just get to go run around and play. To me there is no comparison: a photo shoot with your kids cooped up in a hot little room indoors vs. Playing outside. I'll take playing any day as long as the weather allows. Will, who just turned 3, was a little reserved at first but once a game of chase started, he was all smiles and laughter. I love some of the shots we got cause it just captured the love of a father and son. What a beautiful family, inside and out.

Precious little Morgan had a rough time on her shoot. She has colic and loves to be held so we got about 5 minutes of shooting at the very beginning and not quite 3 hours later another 10 minutes or so of shooting. Her Granddaddy and Mama rocked and rocked and as soon as they'd start to set her down those eyes would pop open and here comes the crying again. Her bouncy chair saved us though. She was ok sitting in it as long as Grandma kept her bouncing. This was a family effort! We got a few good ones though and I'm so glad Karen had lemons on her counter that I could steal to use as props! It turned out to be a really cute shot. I just hate that we didn't get some shots of her smiling with those adorable, kissable, chubby baby cheeks! Thanks for hanging in there Karen. I'm sure the 6 month shoot will be a piece of cake! :)

These are my cutie patooties and my precious niece and sister-in-law. My new niece is due for arrival any day so we shot some maternity pics too. We live about 3 1/2 hours apart so we surprised the grandparents with these shots for Christmas. Big props to my mom "Nana" for the clothing. The dresses (shown in Kylan and Cayle's pic) are "Zaza Couture" and the coats are "Mack and Co" I love this first shot to pieces!!!! I can't help but laugh every time I look at it!

It feels like ages since my last post! I've been trying to get all my shoots edited and cranked out so families can get their Christmas cards out before New Year's. I think I'm going for a Valentine's Day mail-out or maybe even Easter...it depends on how long it takes to finish building our house. That alone has been another full time job which has sucked up the few remaining seconds I had left in my already full day. But we are SO blessed to be able to finally build so I'm THRILLED! I'll post some pics for you when we are done and I'll try to take some time to post pics from my last several shoots that haven't made it to the blog yet. Hang in there with me.

This is Kaitlyn. She lives in Louisiana and will be attending LSU next Fall and then hopefully onto Vet school. She brought both her dogs all the way from LA... That's love. My husband and I traveled over 20hrs. one way with our two Basset Hound puppies (which farted the whole way in my little Corolla) to North Carolina. Ya, I won't do that again.

When Brandi stepped out of her SUV at the shoot I was blown away by her beauty. I mean check it out...they look like a magazine ad. Gorgeous. Cute little Cate is destined to be a stunner with these knock-out parents. I've never had a family pray during a shoot and it totally melted me. I caught Cate below looking up at her Daddy as he thanked the Lord for their family. It was a precious moment for me as a photographer. Poor Levi, their Australian shepherd, had stickers caught up in his pretty long hair and I'm afraid it probably took hours to get him cleaned up.

We did a shoot for little Reagan's second birthday just a few months ago but this shoot was for Gracie's 4 yr old pictures and family shots for Christmas. The girls did great and were really into the shoot this time with Gracie even posing for me. We all had a great time. I LOVE the texture on this old barn I found! The combination of the tin and wood is awesome.

It was our first strong cold front of the season the morning of this shoot and the temps were pretty cold during our 8am shoot. Brrr. Nevertheless, this sweet family and their little boy Grayson still hung in there. His Daddy LOVES to fish so we took some shots down by the pond. Gray wasn't too interested in fishing that morning (probably because it was frigid) but it won't be long before he's baiting his own hook right there next to Daddy.

It's cold and flu season. I've lost count of how many little ones have just gotten sick before, during, or after our photo shoot. Poor little Grayson was one of them and wasn't feeling too well that day. We didn't get a whole lot of smiles but still managed to get some cute ones.

This is one of my favorite families and this go round we did a shoot with the whole extended family. Poor little Hallie was up with a fever the night before and was feeling pretty mellow, but we still snatched a few precious shots of her with a smile. When you shoot kids you're bound to have to photo shop in heads or bodies cause you tend to have them going in different directions and rarely is everyone smiling and looking the same way. Surprisingly, the heads I photo shopped in a few of the pics were the other two kids and not Hallie. :) What a handsome family!

Some shoots are challenging...maybe it's the weather, the lighting, an unhappy child, or even getting my creative juices flowing. On the other hand, some shoots are so easy and everything falls into place. Kids are great, weather is great, props work well. THIS was that shoot. We had fun, the boys played chase in the pasture, kids were smiling. It was wonderful. Thanks for making such beautiful babies!

Starla and Kipp were such great troopers. It started pouring not even 2 minutes after we started shooting so Starla sees this old house to the side of the pasture and asked me if I had ever gone over there. I'm always up for an adventure so I said, "Let's go check it out." So off we went crawling through hot wire fence (which thankfully was not on) and we started taking pictures on the front porch which was caving in when the owner and his wife pull up. We happened to be completely blocking this old dirt road so we had to move our cars. The older gentleman said he was just on his way to feed cows but we were welcome to stay (whew!), so off we went to explore and found some of the neatest little shots through these old windows.

Oh man, I love the images we got from this shoot! It's like a fairy land of perfect pastures. I was in heaven. Matter of fact, this is what I imagine Heaven to be...lots and lots of lush pastures, of course some Rocky Mountains too, and my mansion will be a little cute log cabin on the edge of a trout filled brook. Beautiful sunlight, BEAUTIFUL bride. I love her naturally perfect flawless, freckled face...I didn't have to edit a single blemish!!! And those BLUE eyes! A photographer couldn't ask for more. Those cursed tan lines were another story. :)

By the way, in case you don't notice her, this is Christina from the "Christina and Preston, sitting in a tree..." post. I still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the shot of them kissing in the Century tree. One of my all time favorites and now I'll be adding several of these to my faves list as well. Can't wait for the wedding...only a few weeks away! :) Stay tuned.

Ben said he always dreads photo shoots cause they are a nightmare and the kids never behave. Well, despite a rough start I'd like to say that we got some GREAT pics. The benefit to having kids that won't stand still is that you never have the same shot twice. That's a good thing...more poses, more great pics. On top of being a beautiful family, Tiffany has AMAZING style and taste so the wardrobe was awesome. This is what I mean when I ask my clients to wear texture and accessories. You rock, Tiff! And now you will have a baby boy to have fun dressing soon! FUN!!

My Kids Play Hard...

was the first thing Julie told me when they piled out of their van. Two minutes later, Heidi had dirt all over her, Jake was playing with stick swords and Julie had cow poo on her pants from picking up one of the kids that had stepped in it. We had a great time playing and chasing kids and still got some shots of all 4 together in the same place at the same time. Nate is a high school football coach so we played some ball too. Jake is a future star...just look at how he cradles that football... :)

I Scream for Ice Cream

I had so much fun watching cute little Micah get all sticky and covered in strawberry ice cream! He has such a fun personality. We sang the theme song to Little Einsteins over and over again...never failed. He clapped and wiggled and tried to sing along. If only every kid I took pictures of had a button that we could push to make them smile like singing to Micah. So glad the ice cream stains all came out!

I love this series! It was hard not to laugh because he was so cute, but heartbroken over his dropped ice cream. Being the great Mama that she is, Lisa scooped up the salvageable remains and off he went again with his ice cream cone.

This was by far the easiest infant shoot I've done. He slept the ENTIRE time. No crying, no feedings, just peaceful sleep. We just moved him around from one place to the next and he was out cold. Wanna know the secret? He has a very smart Mama who scheduled his photo shoot right after his Dr.'s appointments that morning. He had his foot pricked and all kinds of people messing with him so he was just plum worn out. Good strategy though. Isn't he a handsome little man!!

I Got Sunshine...

I LOVED this shoot. Shanna and Kyle were so natural and easy. Shanna is carrying TWIN baby girls! We were getting a little nervous about the shoot time since she was already 34 weeks. With twins, ya never know, ya know? I loved the setting sun for this shoot. It makes everything warm and yummy. Aren't they just so sweet on each other!? Shanna still looks so little, she sure doesn't look like she's carrying TWO babies in there. We wore her out pretty good tromping around in the pastures, but I'm sure her sweet husband gave her a good foot rubbin' that night.

This cracks me up. That kiss was so good it made her toes curl. :)

These are some old friends from college and their awesome kiddos. It was my first time getting to meet their kids and it's always so neat seeing how children are a perfect combination of their parents but each so individual. Mikaela, Elijah, Kereth and new little Josiah were a lot of fun and Mikaela was little Miss Photogenic. She was a star in front of the camera.

Heather amazes me...she has 4 kids under 5 years old and home schools too. She must have the patience of Job.

Treyson's Sneak Peak

I love my job! I get to cuddle cutie pies like this and call it "work." Treyson was a great little man today...he slept well and ate well and pooped a lot...A LOT. His mama and daddy will be in dire need of funds for diapers if he keeps up this routine. I think we went through 7 diapers just in the few hours I was there. There I go talking about poop again...sorry, I'll try to keep it clean. Well, here's a couple shots to hold you over. I'll get more up soon. This was an impromptu, quick shoot as my cousin and her 12 week old son, Harvey, were passing through town from Denver to Houston. They had been on the road for 2 days, but Harvey was so excited just to be out of his car seat. I love his expressions ... adorable...

Brandy & Michael's Engagements

Meet Brandy and Michael and their "kids" Jeb and Sadie. It was a lot of fun shooting with their dogs. A big thanks to Brandy's mom who came with us to handle the dogs throughout the shoot. She earned herself a good dinner that night. It was hot as blue blazes out that day, as you can tell by all the pictures with the dogs panting to keep cool. It added comic relief to the pics though and they make me laugh. Brandy and Michael are both coaches at local high schools and will be getting married in December in College Station. They are a fantastic couple and I can't wait until December.

Bloys Camp Meeting

Back in the old days, ranchers were so spread out on the land that they couldn't attend church weekly or visit with friends frequently so once a year all the ranchers and families would get together to worship and fellowship. My family has been attending "camp meeting" in the Davis Mountains for many, many years and L.R. "Lally" Millican, one of my ancestors, was one of the founders of the camp. Ministers from several denominations including Baptist, Methodist, Disciples of Christ and a few more are asked to come in and rotate teaching 3 bible study times throughout the day and then "big" church at night. The preachers rotate throughout the week so you get to hear them all.

It was found to be most efficient to have several different cook camps divided up by denomination to feed all the people. There are no goods bought or sold on camp property so meals are paid by donation only. Each cook camp has it's own style. The Means-Evans (Baptist) cook shed is the most traditional and still cooks over open fire in dutch ovens. Several of the pictures below are from their camp.

These little girls were playing in the flour after helping make breakfast biscuits...

Coffee, grounds and all are poured into this big pot on coals.
The grounds settle to the bottom and the coffee is nice, strong and hot. :)

All the kiddos at the Means & Evans camp serve the food for lunch and supper. They are waiting patiently for instructions and assignments.

The lodging is restricted to tin metal buildings with no air conditioners.
You can see them behind where these boys are playing. Any family that has attended camp meeting for 3 years straight can build a cabin on camp property at their own expense.

This baby girl is a doll! I was a little concerned when her mom said Hope hadn't slept all night except for a couple hours in the late morning, but she was all smiles. We even made it through 4 wardrobe changes without a hitch. That's a feat. A little snack here and there and she was ready to go for more.

I love the shots of her in the bushel basket with apples. It gets me all excited for Fall temperatures, caramel apples and small town festivals & rodeos.

This is one of my new favorite pictures. I love the texture and lines of the tree...and them kissing in the midst of it all. It gives me chills. I was like, "hey, wanna climb a tree?" and they said, "sure." This is the Century Tree on the campus of Texas A&M. I'm an Aggie and I never was instructed not to climb on the Century Tree, so please let me know if this is a violation of some Aggie Code of Ethics rule. :)

After I loaded the pics for this post, I realized that almost all the ones I chose and love the most are kissing and snuggling shots! Ha. They weren't mugging the whole time! I loved though, how lovey dovey they were...definitely a couple madly in love. I can't wait for their wedding in November! They are such a cute couple!!

Preston was a member of the Corps of Cadets at A&M, so we took some shots at the Quad.

The initials in the tree below are really there...whoever vandalized this tree would probably be stoned if anyone ever found out who they were. Anyway, I photoshopped the initials for Preston and Christina.

This was a tough day for lil' Gracie. She was tired and hungry for two and a half hours (despite 3 feedings during the shoot) and she wasn't too happy with me moving her around and interrupting her chill time with a big ole camera in her face. What can I say? Babies get HUNGRY the day I come shoot. Go figure. But I'm so glad we got a few good ones and even some with her eyes closed (she was pretending - she never went to sleep until I put up my camera). I love this sweet one on Kelly's shoulder.

Justin and Tara are expecting their first bouncing baby boy in October. Justin is the Assistant Coach for the Texas A&M Baseball team, hence the cool access to Olsen Field. I love getting to take shots in places that are significant to the people in the pictures, plus this was a great backdrop resulting in some pretty sweet shots. I love the shot with the grandstands in the background. It's my favorite. Tara was the cutest little thing. She not only had a cute baby bump, but it was tan too! This couple was so sweet on each other and I loved getting to catch them in action having fun and snuggling together. The lighting was beautiful and warm at sunset. I loved doing this shoot. Kyson just turned the big "3" so we did a shoot dedicated to him with some family shots thrown in here and there. He was a great sport. . .especially when the M&M's came out. Thanks, Roland, for the Donald Duck impression. Made him smile every time.

This publicity shoot for Jake was a lot of fun for me. We were in 100% humidity, dodging morning mosquitoes and I was certain we'd find a few copperheads around that old cotton gin, but to my surprise never did...lots of spiders though. Here are just a few shots...

A Bride and Her Horse

This is Sarah. And this is her horse Lady. Don't they make wonderful pictures together? I think so. Sarah is beyond beautiful and getting to do this post-wedding shoot with her handsome hubby, Jake, was so much fun! We started out at her family's homestead and took several shots in and around the old cotton gin.

I love old wood, old metal and tall luscious weeds. I'd have them in every shot if I could.

Then we went out to where the cows and horses are out to pasture. It was like we bribed the cows, like I do my children, to stand and look at the camera and smile. Too bad I didn't bring any cattle cubes for treats.

Thank you so much Jake and Sarah for letting me do this shoot with you. I had a blast and I hope you love the results. Only you, Sarah, could look this beautiful in 100% humidity.

Check out this QT pie!! I love these expressions, they make me melt and laugh at the same time. This first one is priceless. I want to frame it in a 18x24 in my own home and he's not even my kid. The second shot I can just hear him saying, "pretty please don't take my football away." And the third I put in so you could see his beautiful smile that he showed off almost the entire time. What a wonderful little personality he has! It was such a pleasure to do this session. It's not often you have a 8 month old that doesn't fuss a lick. Kemme, thanks for the opportunity to photograph your little man. I hope you come down from Colorado more often so we can do it again.

We just got back from visiting my mom in Raleigh, NC last week and had a great time as usual. We went to the beach for 3 days/3 nights and got to build sandcastles, collect shells, and play in the ocean and pool all three days cause the weather was perfect.

One of my bridesmaids, Emily Collins, is a photographer now in Wake Forest and our plan was to trade off family shoots, but her family got sick last minute. I'm so bummed I didn't get to show you pics of her VERY handsome three sons, but I'm tickled to show you the shots she got of my family. These were all taken in my mom's yard, which is the exact spot we got married 9 years ago. I even included a wedding shot which is really sad to me cause we've lost Pops since then. He was such a great man, and I miss him every day. My girls would have had him wrapped around around their little fingers.

Belly Painting

I had a great time just watching this family have fun together! They are very blessed to be adding another beautiful child to their loving arms in a few weeks. Rebecca wanted to do the belly painting idea which I LOVED cause I haven't done that before. I think the shots turned out so great and I love this first one.

Rebecca works with the Entomology Dept. at Texas A&M, so I thought it was fitting to include this neat shot of the butterfly in the gardens.

These precious boys were about 5 lbs each when we did this shoot. It is so amazing to watch how at this age they are already so different in personalities. Tayden is a wiggle worm and always likes to be moving and Tanner is relaxed and docile.

Their daddy is a fireman with the College Station FD so we did some shots in his helmets (his uniform helmet and Hero helmet he was awarded). Thanks for hanging in there and letting me get the shots of you holding the boys. I adore it, it's my favorite shot! Although, it's extremely difficult to pick a favorite. They are so sweet!

No worries, she's not running anywhere without her man. I had a great time shooting with Robin and her entourage. We met a really cool Old Army Ag named Jack that owned the old plane below. He flew on an elite team back in '63 when he was at A&M and still flies in shows today. He even held a box fan for us to get a "breezy" look. What a guy!

A big thanks to the crew at Coulter Air Field that let us trapes around on their runway and hangers. One of them asked if Robin had a sister, cause if so, he wanted her number. Haha. I didn't tell you that, Robin. :)

Oh, and I love the intimate shot with Robin and her mom, Sandy, below. Sandy is a beautiful pianist so it was fitting to have that special shot with her.

When Rebecca called me to do this shoot, she suggested we go to her family's place out at Ritchey Ranch. This was her grandparent's home and where she spent many great summers in her childhood. If you ever wanted to know what a Texas beauty looks like, this is her (I know it should be "she" but we don't have to be grammatically correct in Texas). Brittany is a West Texas chick born and bred. I had her tromping through shoulder-high grass in the middle of snake and fire ant country in flip-flops and she didn't care a bit. Not only is she gorgeous and smart as a whip, but the sweetest thing you'll ever meet. Did I mention she deer hunts too? I had a blast with this shoot! It exceeded my very high expectations and I had an impossible time narrowing down the pics to edit. Every single one was beautiful. Even the one picking her nose. Just kiddin' - she didn't do that, but if she did, she'd still look pretty.

This shoot is a dream come reality. A big thanks to Jamie B. for being my assistant, you rocked. And a huge thanks to Charli for providing the kickin' clothing for the shoot. And of course, Brittany for giving the opportunity to capture your God given beauty.

I've been so busy taking pics I haven't had much time to blog, so here a just a few of beautiful baby Bella and her sister Emma. We caught the wildflowers just before they puttered out. They were such troopers along with Mama and Grammy cause the weather was NASTAY. It was misty and the wind started howling...not ideal for a naked baby. We had an umbrella keeping the elements off Bella so she didn't get too chilled but we had a very small window of time to work with. I love the wind in Emma's hair below and her expression. Too Cute!!

My New Tractor

Well, it isn't hardly new. It's a 1949 Farmall C. All it needs is a new set of tires and a paint job and it'll be good as new...I hope. The kids liked it anyway. Everyone wanted to have their turn on the tractor. This was a big family shoot with grandparents, 2 children and spouses and 5 grandchildren. What a fun family! These are 2 blessed grandparents to have such a wonderful kids and grandkids.
